Natural Hypnosis: "You Are Your Own Hypnotist"

NATURAL HYPNOSIS: “YOU ARE YOUR OWN HYPNOTIST”

The following exercise will show you how you can utilize natural hypnosis in your daily life to better your experience. At the end of this summary you will find a separate worksheet that you can copy and work with if you are serious about making positive changes.

“In those areas in which you are dissatisfied, you feel that you are powerless, or that your will is paralyzed, or that conditions continue despite what you think of as your intent. Yet, if you pay attention to your own quite conscious thoughts, you will find that you are concentrating upon precisely those negative aspects that so appall you. You are hypnotizing yourself quite effectively and so reinforcing the situation.

You may say horrified, “What can I do? I am hypnotizing myself into my overweight condition (or my loneliness, or my poor health).” Yet in other facets of your life you may be hypnotizing yourself into wealth, accomplishment, satisfaction – and here you do not complain. The same issues are involved. The same principles are operating. In those positive life situations you are certain of your initiative. There is no doubt. Your beliefs become reality.

In the unsatisfactory aspects, you must understand this: There is also no doubt. You are utterly convinced that you are sick, or poor, or lonely, or spiritually opaque, or unhappy.

The results then, as easily and effortlessly follow. Natural hypnosis, in the terms given here, operates as well in one case as the other. What should you do then?

First, you must realize that you are your own hypnotist, inducing natural hypnosis. You must seize the initiative here as you have in other positive aspects of your life. Whatever the superficial reasons for your beliefs, you must say:

  ·  For a certain amount of time I will momentarily suspend what I believe in this area, and willfully accept the belief I want, I will pretend that I am under hypnosis, with myself as hypnotist and subject. For that time desire and belief will be one. There will be no conflict because I do this willingly. For this period I will completely alter my old beliefs. Even though I sit quietly, in my mind I will act as if the belief I want were mine completely.

Ø  If you feel that you are overweight, insert the weight that you think is ideal for you while you are following this exercise.

Ø  Imagine that you are healthy if you have the belief that you are not.

Ø  If you are lonely, believe that you are filled with the feeling of companionship instead.

Ø  If you are feeling poor, imagine that all of your financial needs are being met.

Ø  At this point do not think of the future, but only of the present.

Ø  Realize that you are exerting your initiative to imagine such situations. Here there can be no comparisons with your normal situation. Do not compare the normal situation with that desired vision you hold. Use visual data, and/or words – whatever is most natural and comfortable for you as being as you desire. Only about 10 minutes is required at a time, once per day.

·   If you do this faithfully, within a month you will find the new conditions materializing in your experience. Your neurological structures will respond automatically. The unconscious will be aroused, bringing its greater powers to bear, bringing you the new results.

·    Do not obsess constantly over this exercise. Do not try to overdo this, to go through the entire day worrying about beliefs, for example. This can only cause you to contrast what you have with what you want. Forget the exercise when it is completed.

·    You will find yourself with impulses that arrive in line with these newly inserted beliefs, and then it is up to you to act on these and not ignore them. The initiative must be yours. You will never know unless you try the exercise.

Now, if you are in poor health, and have a physician, you had better continue going to them, because you still rely on that system of belief – but use these exercises as supplements to build up your own sense of inner health, and to protect you against any negative suggestions given by your doctor. Utilize the belief in physicians since you have it.

The point of power is in the present. You must thoroughly understand that, and then you can take hold of your life and begin to use natural hypnosis for your benefit in all areas. It works advantageously for each of you now in those portions of your lives with which you are pleased.

In all situations, it is highly important that you do not concentrate your main attention in that area of experience with which you are least satisfied. This acts as a deepening of hypnotic suggestion. Just reminding yourself of your other accomplishments will by itself operate in a constructive fashion, even if nothing else is done. Such focus of attention on positive aspects automatically pulls your energy away from the problem. It also builds up your own sense of worth and power as you are reminded of adequate performance at other levels of experience.

Whenever you are trying to rid yourself of a dilemma, make sure that you do not concentrate your attention upon it instead -  concentrating your attention on your dilemma acts to cut out other data, and to further intensify your focus upon your difficulty. When you break that focus, the problem is solved.

In any area, great clues can be received simply through paying more attention to the conscious thoughts that you have during the day, for each of them serve as minute suggestions, modifying your behavioral patterns and affecting bodily mechanisms and other perceived “facts” about your life.”

Ideas, quotes, and steps for this exercise were taken from The Nature of Personal Reality by Jane Robert, Sessions 659-660.   Dream Awareness Network, Aug. 22, 2014 www.DreamAwarenessNetwork.org

NATURAL HYPNOSIS EXERCISE One:  “YOU ARE YOUR OWN HYPNOTIST”

Ø  Imagine that you are healthy if you have the belief that you are not.

Ø  If you are lonely, believe &imagine that you are filled with the feeling of companionship instead.

Ø  If you are feeling poor, imagine that all of you financial needs are being met.

Ø  Select the condition you desire to create and write it here in present tense: __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Ø  At this point do not think of the future, but only of the present.

·     Realize that you are exerting your initiative to image such situations. Here there can be no comparisons with your normal situation. Do not compare the normal situation with that desired vision you hold. Use visual data, and/or words – whatever is most natural and comfortable for you as being as you desire.

·     Only about 10 minutes is required at a time, once per day.

The Power of Suggestion ; An Aspect of Natural Hypnosis

The Power of Suggestion:  An Aspect of Natural Hypnosis

Repeated suggestion, whether from outside sources or from your own conscious mind as self suggestion will have a hypnotic effect on your subconscious mind and will establish neurological patterns within the body itself.

These conditions once created can be either impeding or empowering depending upon the nature of the suggestion. We must realize that even repeated subtle suggestions can play a powerful role in our lives. Only through increased awareness and monitoring our thoughts and verbal expressions can we begin to understand this phenomenon.

The real understanding comes when we can identify and change limiting core beliefs and all impeding beliefs attached to the core beliefs. Suggestion can then be used in an empowering way.  We are continuously employing Natural Hypnosis to help create the life we think we want for ourselves and all humanity. This is done naturally through the power of suggestion.

This discussion on suggestion is a preliminary discussion that goes with 3 other posts and associated exercises dealing with Natural Hypnosis. The other posts are:

1.       You are Your Own Hypnotist
2.        Accepting Desired New Beliefs
3.       Which You, Which World

For each of these summaries, there is an exercise that if done as outlined, can be a tool to help you achieve any New Year Resolution that you are serious about. Any goal you select, that is in harmony with your life purpose and personal blueprint for life, can be achieved if the proper tools are applied.

I could spend time filling a lot of space with words, sharing my personal experiences with suggestion over the past 50 or so years that enhanced my understanding of me, and my world, but this paper is not for that purpose. Instead, I will share the wisdom from a couple of my “teachers”.

First, a few passages from one of the books that was empowering for me in my past studies regarding the understanding of the “mind”, and my mind in particular regarding suggestion. I will then share several passages from various sessions of the Seth material that was received and written by Jane Roberts and Robert Butts during the period 1964-1984, as Jane received the material from an “Educator” known as Seth.

I can’t stress enough the importance of understanding the role of suggestive self- talk that we all engage in, that sooner or later; helps mold our bodies, health, relationships, and all other aspects of our existence. So, to begin:

“You must realize by now that your conscious mind is the “watchman at the gate,” and its chief function is to protect your subconscious mind from false impressions. You are now aware of one of the basic laws of mind: Your subconscious mind is amenable to suggestion. As you know, your subconscious mind does not make comparisons, or contrast, neither does it reason or think things out for itself. This latter function belongs to your conscious mind. It does not show a preference for one course of action over another.

It is true that different people will react in different ways to the same suggestion because of their subconscious conditioning or belief. The dictionary says that a suggestion is the act or instance of putting something into one’s mind, the mental process by which the thought or idea suggested is entertained, accepted, or put into effect.

You must remember that a suggestion cannot impose something on the subconscious mind against the will of the conscious mind. In other words, your conscious mind has the power to reject the suggestion given.

Each of us has their own inner fears, beliefs, opinions, and these inner assumptions rule and governs our lives. A suggestion has no power in and of itself except it is accepted mentally by you. This causes your subconscious powers to flow in a limited and restricted way according to the nature of the suggestion.”

The above passage in quotes is from the book The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy (1963).

Next, I will share several passages from the Seth material. This will provide a frame of reference to understand the impact of the other posts dealing with Natural Hypnosis and  how to use it to make dramatic and positive changes in your life.

The source books and sessions from the Seth material will be listed at the end.

“Now, we will discuss what you call suggestion in more practical terms, for your particular uses, It is necessary that its basic nature be understood. The ego simply cannot judge, as a rule, whether an action is a constructive or an impeding one, for the personality as a whole.  It can judge however, for itself whether an action is a constructive one, or one that impedes.”

“First of all, the unconscious is not a sponge, indiscriminately accepting material regardless of the considerations of your conscious self. All beliefs or suggestions are first sifted through your conscious mind, and only those you accept are then permitted their penetration into the other areas of the self.”

“Your beliefs act like a hypnotist. As long as the particular directions are given, your “automatic” experience will conform. One suggestion that can break through this is:I create my reality and the present is my point of power.”

"If you do not like the effects of a belief you must alter it, for no manipulations of exterior conditions themselves will release you. If you truly understand your power of action and decision in the present, then you will not be hypnotized by past events. In a manner of speaking, then, the suggestions you give yourselves constantly operate overall as beliefs that are reflected in your experience. “

“Many, who make a practice of “denying” negative suggestions from others, asserting positive affirmations instead, actually do so because they are so fully convinced that the power of negative beliefs is stronger than that of beneficial ones.”

“Much has been written about the nature and importance of suggestion. One of the current ideas in vogue holds that you are constantly at the mercy of suggestion. Your own beliefs are the most important suggestions that you receive. All other ideas are rejected or accepted according to whether or not you believe they are true, in line with the steady conscious chatter that goes own within your mind most of the day – the suggestions given to you by yourself.”

“You will accept a suggestion given by another only if it fits in with your own ideas about the nature of reality in general, and your concepts about yourself in particular. If you use your conscious mind properly, then, you examine those beliefs that come to you. You do not accept them willy-nilly. If you use your conscious mind properly, you are also aware of intuitive ideas that come to you from within.”

“Your beliefs automatically attract the appropriate emotions. They reinforce themselves through imagination; imagination and feeling follow your beliefs. It is not the other way around.  A brief innocuous enough example – If you meet an individual often enough and think, “They give me a pain in the neck,” it is surely no coincidence that you find yourself with a painful neck in future encounters with this person. The suggestion is quite a conscious one, however, given by you and carried out not symbolically but most practically, most literally. In other words, the conscious mind gives its orders and the inner self carries them out. The inner self brings about whatever results the conscious mind desires.”

“You constantly give yourself suggestions about your body, your health or ill health. You think about your body often, then. You send a barrage of beliefs and instructions to the inner self that affect your physical image. Your thoughts have a very definite vital reality. Beliefs are thoughts reinforced by imagination and emotion concerning the nature of your reality.” Repeated thoughts then, are repeated suggestions.

For example, “When you say, “I am tired,” mentally you are not only giving silent messages to yourself – I say messages rather than message because the general statement is broken down; many portions of the body must be affected before you feel tired – but inside this the inner sound value of the messages automatically affects the body in just that way.”

“What should you do, then, if you find yourself feeling tired? This is your conscious assessment of your body’s reality at a given time. You want to change it so you do not reinforce it. Instead you say mentally that "the body can now begin to rest and refresh itself". You take your initial judgment for granted without restating it, and instead, suggest the remedy to be carried out (positively).”

“You can if the conditions warrant, physically rest by lying down or making whatever adjustments seem appropriate. If none are possible then several such suggestions – that the body can refresh itself – will give you benefit. To tell yourself over and over that you are tired, however, reinforces the condition. The inner sound value of the countering suggestion automatically begins to refresh the body. “

The Seth material contends that every thought, or suggestion, that we entertain, has an impact on our body and affects our health. Happy, empowering, or peaceful thoughts can help keep us healthy, while fearful, limiting, or negative thoughts can help bring on disease. The material also says that we all send and receive suggestions telepathically that affect us unconsciously.

“You must understand that telepathy operates constantly.  If you continually expect an individual to behave in a particular manner, you are constantly sending them telepathic suggestions that they will do so.   Each individual reacts to suggestion according to the specific conditions existing at the time.”

“An individual will to some extent or another act according to mass suggestions they receive.  These mass suggestions include not only those given to them by others, both verbally and telepathically, but also those given to themselves both in the waking and dream states. If an individual is in a state of despondency, this is because they have already become prey to negative suggestions of their own and from others.”

“If you see someone and think that they look miserable – or that they are an incurable drunk, then these suggestions are picked up by them subconsciously, though you have not spoken a word, and in their already weakened condition the suggestions will be accepted and acted upon.”

“If on the other hand, under the same circumstances, you stop yourself and say gently to yourself, “They will begin to feel better now”, or,” their drinking is temporary and there is indeed hope here”, then you have given them aid, for the suggestions will at least represent some small telepathic ammunition to help them fight off the war of despondency.”

“There are obviously ways in which you mold your own conditions, protect yourself from your own negative suggestions and those of others. You must learn to erase a negative thought or picture by replacing it with its opposite. “

A phrase which can help here is one I learned several decades ago (can’t remember now just where I picked it up). Whenever you catch yourself making a negative comment about yourself or another, just say to yourself, “Stop, Erase, Rewind, Rephrase”; and turn the suggestion into a positive and helpful one.

“If you think “I have a headache”, and if you do not replace this suggestion by a positive one, then you are automatically suggesting that the body set up those conditions that will result in the continuation of the malady. “You should tell yourself frequently, “I will only react to constructive suggestions”, for this gives you some protection against your own negative thoughts and those of others.  A negative thought, if not erased, will almost certainly result in a negative condition; a momentary despondency, or a headache, according to the intensity of the thought.”

“If you do find yourself with a headache, say immediately “That is the past. Now in this new moment, this new present, I am already beginning to feel better”. Then, immediately turn your attention away from the physical condition. Concentrate upon something pleasant, or begin a new task. In this way you are no longer suggesting that the body reproduce the headache conditions.”

“It does not do to repress negative thoughts; such as fears, angers, or resentments. These should be recognized, faced, and then replaced.”  Remember, thoughts are suggestions!

To protect us from unwanted effects, a suggestion daily like “I live in a safe world; infinite intelligence guides me and protects in all ways in everything I experience”, will counter the negative suggestions that may be thrown our way.

Even though I could bring into the discussion other areas where suggestions play a big role, like over- all health, dream recall, or even the experience of astral travel, I will close with some thoughts from the Seth material that have far reaching effects on the world.

“There is an enchanting suggestion, solemnly repeated many times, particularly after the turn of the last century” (1900): “Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better.” - The suggestion is from the work of the French psychotherapist, Emile Coue, (1857 – 1926).

“This might sound a bit  overly optimistic, though maybe delightful, nonsense. To a degree, however, that suggestion worked for millions of people. It was not a cure-all. It did not help those who believed in the basic un-trustworthiness of their own natures. The suggestion was far from a bit of fluff, however, for it could serve – and it did – as a framework about which new beliefs could rally. "

“We often have in your society the opposite suggestion, however, given quite regularly: “Every day, in every way, I am growing worse, and so is the world.” "You have meditations for disaster, beliefs that invite private and mass tragedies. They are usually marked by the polite clothing of conventional acceptance.

Many thousands may die in a particular battle of war, for example. The deaths are accepted almost as a matter of course.

These are victims of war, without question. It seldom occurs to anyone that these are victims of beliefs – since the guns are quite real, and the bombs, and the combat. The enemy is obvious. His intentions are evil.

Wars are basically examples of mass suicide – embarked upon, however, with all of the battles paraphernalia, carried out through mass suggestion, and through the nation’s greatest resources, by men who are convinced that the universe is unsafe, that the self cannot be trusted, and that strangers are always hostile.

You take for granted that the species is aggressively combative. You must out-think the enemy nation before you yourself are destroyed. These paranoiac tendencies are largely hidden beneath man’s nationalistic banners. “The end justifies the means.” This is another belief, most damaging.

Religious wars always have paranoiac tendencies, for the fanatic always fears conflicting beliefs, and systems that embrace them."

The power of suggestion can fruitfully, and practically be employed in your Dream Work also. That is another topic to address in a separate posting soon. Thank you for staying with this one till the end!

The Seth material book references are:

The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events: by Jane Roberts – Session 835 (1981)

The Seth Material: by Jane Roberts - Chapter 13  (1970)

Don't let the publishing dates mislead you. The material is as current today as it was when it was published. In my opinion, it is the best broad spectrum explanation of Reality I have come across. There have been many teachers through out the centuries. Seth summarizes and expands a view of reality that is dearly needed today as we approach the mid 21st century.

Some current influential teachers feel civilization is at a crisis point, a turning point, a monumental decision point - "Are we going to grow, or die as a civilization"! I believe the Seth material shows us a path that leads to growth and expansion of consciousness. It can lead us to engage in "An Experiment That Has Never Been Tried" since the beginning of our civilization (the topic of another future posting)..

Now, read the other 3 summaries listed above, on this blog page www.DreamAwarenessNetwork.org /blog and experience the respective exercises. You will be on your way to a healthy, happy and prosperous 2015, and life.

The Death Experience: A Celebration of Life

Posted on November 10, 2014 at 2:33 PM Comments comments (9)
The Death Experience – A Celebration of Life

In my next life I want to live my life backwards. You start out dead and get that out of the way. Then you wake up in an old people's home feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, and then when you start work, you get a gold watch and a party on your first day. You work for 40 years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You party, drink alcohol, and are generally promiscuous, and then you are ready for high school. You then go to primary school, you become a kid, and you play. You have no responsibilities; you become a baby until you are born. And then you spend your last 9 months floating in luxurious spa-like conditions with central heating and room service on tap, larger quarters every day and then Voila! You finish off as an orgasm!” – Woody Allen

If that quote from Woody Allen does not get your attention, then maybe you aren’t ready for this lesson in the series of lessons “Creating and Living a Magical Life”; and that’s okay. I just ask that you hang in there with me, suspend disbelief and let me try to express what this discussion was to be about as it expanded in my mind.

I know it is difficult for some to arrive at an attitude that the death experience should be a celebration of life. I know this because it was extremely difficult for me to cement this idea into my belief structure. I certainly did not have it when my mother was killed by a gun someone else was holding. I was only 19 at the time and was looking forward to my mother taking a vacation from her home in Atlanta and visiting my sister and me in Florida. On the night she was packing to leave for that vacation, she was killed by a bullet from a 22 caliber rifle. One that the police file report described as being “accidently” discharged, as her husband held it while it was pointed toward the kitchen where she was standing, preparing something for dinner.

When I got the call and learned of this incident I was working. I was immediately overcome with grief that I previously thought was not possible. That grief and a mental climate of disbelief stayed with me as my sister and I prepared to make the drive overnight to Atlanta and meet up with my brother who was flying in from Germany where he was stationed at an Army nuclear missile base. The trip to Atlanta was filled with rolling cycles of emotional turmoil and rational thoughts of what’s next in my life. Prior to that fatal day, as an adult 19 year old, I was looking forward to getting to know my mother. To maybe gain new insight into who she was as a person struggling with her own life.

The only time I had experienced some degree of real grief before that, as I remember, was when I was about 3 years old or younger. I hold a vision of myself as a toddler, on my tiptoes peering into the player of a stereo cabinet at about eye level.  As the record played the song, I was feeling sad and feeling that something was very wrong. I was bawling my eyes out as I cried out that “I want my mommy”.  Even though I was miserable, I just wanted to keep crying, and pleaded with my grandmother to play the song over and over as I held onto the stereo cabinet and watched the record go around. I am thankful that my grandmother allowed me to release that emotion, only ceasing when I probably collapsed from exhaustion and was put in bed. She allowed me to experience that emotion. What was so strange about this experience was that the actual words to the song were:

“Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so wonderful,
Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so good.
No one could be, so gentle and so lovable
Oh, my pa-pa, he always understood.

Gone are the days when he would take me on his knee,
And with a smile he'd change my tears to laughter.

Oh, my pa-pa, so funny, so adorable,
Always the clown so funny in his way.
Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so wonderful
Deep in my heart I miss him so today...

I could not accept the words ”pa-pa” in my sadness, so I internalized the song as being about my mother who was gone. My mother had left the family over an incident I only have bits of information about.

Later in life, my father blamed the troubles that resulted in divorce, on my grandmother. In a different version my brother, shortly before he died, blamed father for the trouble and for mother leaving. However the drama unfolded, I was a small child with an empty feeling and an awareness that I no longer had my mother around to comfort me. This portion of my life experience had an impact on me for several years to come.\

I have friends and have met others who may have experienced even deeper grief when they lost a son or daughter for various reasons to natural or tragic deaths. Some have shared with me how they coped and got on with life. My brother lost a son, so I know from personal experience, how one’s life can be torn apart in an instant after the worse of all possible death experiences; the loss of a beloved child’s life. As for my brother, I don’t think he ever fully healed from the loss of his eldest son due to some residual guilt feelings for not being beside him at a time of need, after long suffering with a progressing illness. My brother had only gone to the store to get something for them to eat. They both, being single at the time, shared a house.

I know how the question can come to mind – what more could I have done? I had that nagging thought after my brother made his transition a little over two years ago after struggling with advancing cancer. I had spent the previous 3 months driving my brother to radiation and chemo treatment, but was not with him the night he needed to make an emergency trip to the hospital. I had helped him get into bed, kissed him on the forehead and said a prayer for him, and then went home to get some rest myself.

Well, by now, I am sure I have triggered some memories and emotion in some of you, and you are wondering just how I am going to pull the rabbit out of the proverbial hat and turn this story around to one of celebration.  A few moments ago, I was wondering about that myself, in the time allotted to hold your attention. But I did grow and learn that death is a part of life as many teachers have said. That we can at times, find in the death experience, a reason to live and a reason to celebrate. We can learn that death is not finality, but just a transition to another stage and focus of consciousness.

We can learn that our night life and our dream productions can be a stage to share with our departed loved ones or to receive communications from teachers and guides that may just be departed loved ones in costume. Or, as Seth explains, during the dream dramas and adventures that we co-create, we can be teachers and guides for others.

The experiences of the dream time can be even more varied with possibilities than our waking state. That we can in both states, communicate with ourselves in a past life or vision ourselves in a future life. As some physicists have said, time is just a construct to make it appear that everything is not just happening at the same time. The possibilities seem truly unlimited. Likewise, the possibilities in our physical life can be unlimited as we explore and expand our consciousness while dealing with the normal life process we call death. Only our consciously accepted beliefs make this seem unlikely.

The exercises we take part in during this class will hopefully bring these ideas into focus. For now, I will share some of the key questions brought up by Seth in his first book, “Seth Speaks” by Jane Roberts, first published in 1972. These are questions that we need to honestly answer so that we can make changes to our life if we are not happy with the answers.

Some Key Life Questions:

·Are you content with your physical reality; your existence and experiences within it?

·Do you wish to discover greater significance, beauty, and meaning in your life as you now live it?

·Do you feel that you are experiencing the fullest enjoyment possible in your life each day, week, month, or year?

·Do you spend some time each week on relaxation and personal development?

·Are you using all of your abilities that you now possess to bring you joy and satisfaction to your mind and heart?

·Do you constantly wish you could escape the hectic existence you are living?

·Or, do you feel like you have a handle on life and the “universe” is supporting
you?

·Do you hold on to preconceptions and limiting beliefs about life and death that create barriers to understanding why you may not be experiencing the existence you desire?

Even though I put this list together over a week ago, I still say “WOW” – after typing them, knowing the change in attitudes, world views, and beliefs that they can lead to if honestly answered. We are talking about living one’s “dream life” during this present life, not just fantasizing and daydreaming about something we never expect to live. We are talking about maybe turning our life upside down and following our true intuitions and impulses that come from deep within our soul or psyche. We are talking about surprises when we really learn to pay attention to those intuitions and impulses; to follow our personal blueprint that is designed to give us guidance in this life journey.

It’s instructive to remember the words of one of the world’s greatest motivational speakers.

“I advise you to say your dream is possible and then overcome all inconveniences, ignore all the hassles, and take a running leap through the hoop, even if it  is in flames”-  Les Brown.

I have been accustomed for a long time now, when I am preparing for a class, to rely on my intuitions - the messages from my subconscious to guide me. When I sat down in the living room this morning to enjoy a cup of coffee, quiet my mind, and be open to ideas, the process unfolded.

I sat in a chair I don’t normally sit in at the end of the couch, by a lamp table. I glanced down and noticed the books in the rack under the table top.  I would not have been able to tell you which books I left there some time ago since it had been a long time since I had sat there to read.  I thought “maybe I will pick up one of those books and just browse while I am waiting for ideas.”

I open the book Courageous Dreaming by Alberto Villoldo to a section that right away I could tell, was the beginning of a meaning coincidence.  According to the page header, I was in the middle of chapter nine – Be ready to Die at Any Moment - I turned to the first page of the chapter and there was a quote by Cato The Censor - “He who fears death has already lost the life he covets” . I thought: “Wow, that’s bold!” In the chapter, Alberto shared many ideas that I already hold:

· Many of us have lived in a “flat” world, with ideas and opinions that serve us well but limit our experience of reality.

·Some in our culture have become oblivious to the death of the spirit because we’re terrified of the death of the body.

·A quote by Socrates – “Beware the barrenness of a busy life.”

We need to learn to identify with the soul that transcends death.

·Have the courage to dream means following your calling today, in some way, despite the facts in your life that seem to be unmovable obstacles.

·If your canvas is unfinished at the moment you die, at least you’ll have died an artist instead of a daydreamer or dabbler who talks about how you would have liked to live.

The last point reminds me of a quote from Seth I used in the class on beliefs –

“Generally speaking, we are here to: Discover, learn, and understand how we create our own reality….According to our beliefs….Using our beliefs as an artist uses colors!” …And, to experience Joy and have Fun!”

That sums up my intent for these lessons:  learning, experiencing joy, and having fun – while “Creating and Living a Magical Life.”

Are you adding color to your canvas each day?

Each night we get a glimpse of “the valley of the shadow of death”. It is that sleeping and dreaming period when our consciousness changes focus while the soul, the true us, with the help of our inner self creates dream dramas for us to enjoy and to learn from; if only we pay attention and discover their language. Just as the 23 Psalm says, we should not be fearful of the shadow of death, nor death itself. As a soul, we have eternal validity. We are spirit in “chemical clothes” as Seth affirms.

On another posting, I will share some dreams I have had, or that have been shared with me, that relate to the passing of others appearing in our dreams. The messages from all those who have made the transition to a non physical reality can be summed up similar to this:

“Celebrate life! That is what you are here for. You have the power to change what you do not like. But the change must first take place within you. Love and compassion are to be your guiding emotions and attitude. The Golden Rule is truly golden – Live your life in that posture. If you don’t figure it out this time around, you may choose to return to physical reality to learn the remaining lessons. To learn that Love is the source of being; that all are connected through universal mind and consciousness – through All That Is. You have all the energy and power that is needed available to you from the Source. Trust your intuitions and impulses to help guide you; they arise from a source within you. Celebrate life and fear not death”

Are you adding color to your canvas each day?

 Language, Words and Thoughts;
A Journey from Beliefs to Action:
What it means to be liberal

By John W. Robinson
© July 18, 2004
Revised September 2012, and
Oct. 31 2014.

I owe the evolution of the ideas presented in this article to a seed that was planted in my mind back in the late 70's when I first read the book Language In Thought & Action by S. I. Hayakawa. I heartily recommend reading this book to anyone who desires to understand their self and the language they use and the "news" they accept.

The current motivating force that overcomes mental inertia and compels me to write this now is the open abuse of language, as it pertains to the negative propaganda, in the subjective media, trying to re-define the meaning of the word liberal.

To anyone with an open mind, the evidence is in-your-face every day on network and cable "news" as it tries to redefine political candidates specifically and anyone who supports them in general and en mass. They do it using short sound bites, 24 hours a day with planned, spaced repetition; one of the most important tools in promoting propaganda. As you will probably see in this paper, more than short "sound-bites" is needed to communicate.

The pundits attempt to associate the word liberal as a label that means un-American, unpatriotic, supporting terrorism, pro-Communist, socialist, traitor and many other negative connotations. The National Republican Political party and their pundits including the “religious right” have become experts in propagandizing their "message" with disregard for truth. It appears that their supporters accept these opinions without critical thinking applied before the acceptance of such ideas into their core beliefs.

In researching the implied meaning of the word liberal, I will cite definitions as recorded in 3 different dictionaries published during different time periods. This is important to consider, as you will see.

Reference One
Webster's New World Dictionary - The Everyday Encyclopedic Edition, (Published & copyright by the Southwestern Company, 1965 Edition.)
Liberal is from the Latin root liberalis, free - liber, free.
1.     Suitable for a freeman: not restricted
2.     Giving freely: generous
3.     Ample: abundant
4.     Not restricted to the literal meaning
5.     Broad-minded
6.     Favoring reform or progress; not conservative

Reference Two
Webster's II New Riverside Dictionary - Published & copyright 1984.
(Berkley edition published by arrangements with Houghton Miffin Co., 1984)
1.     Generous
2.     Abundant & ample
3.     Not literal; loose
4.     Pertaining to the Liberal Arts
5.     Respectful of the ideas or behavior of others; tolerant
6.     Favoring democratic reform and the use of governmental resources to effect social progress.
7.     Of or belonging to a political party that advocates liberal views.
Note the first reference to "government"

Reference Three
Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary
(Copyrighted and published 1991 by Merriam - Webster Inc.)

From the Latin root liberalis; suitable for a freeman, generous; liber; free.
Akin to Old English leaden; to grow
From the Greek root leathers; free
1.     a). Relating to or based on the Liberal Arts
b).  Of or befitting a man of free birth
2.     Generous, open handed, giver
3.     Obs*  - lacking moral restraint, Licentious (Note: The temporal label obs is for "obsolete" and means that there is no evidence of use since 1755).
4.     Not literal or strict, loose
5.     Broad-Minded; not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy or tradition
6.     a.) Of  favoring or based upon the principles of liberalism
b.) Of or constituting a political party advocating or associating with the principles of liberalism; esp of or constituting a political party in the United Kingdom associated with the ideals of individual economic freedom and greater individual participation in government, and constitutional, political, and administrative reforms designed to secure these objectives.
*Note: The reference to government was more detailed and the first negative connotation mentioned, albeit obsolete.

I think it is interesting and maybe not a coincidence that the changes taking place from the research period of 1983 to 1990 are a reflection or correlation of the political ideology that was evident during the Reagan-Bush I era. It is also the period of the Republican Party and the Christian-Right's emphasis on the take over of Government and the educational processes and curriculum in this country.  Some of the current pundits' talking points are continuing to give the idea of liberal an even more negative association in an attempt to redefine the meaning.

In looking at the word liberalism, the first source (1965) simply defines it as "the quality or state of being liberal as in politics or religion or as holding liberal principles and ideals.”  The second source (1984) does not give a specific separate definition.

The third source (1991) defines liberalism as:
  1. The quality or state of being liberal
  2. a). A movement in modern Protestantism emphasizing intellectual liberty and the spiritual and ethical content of Christianity
b). A theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market and the gold standard.
c). A political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of man and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties.
d). The principles and policies of a Liberal Party

In the same source (1991), a Democrat is defined as an adherent of democracy or one who practices social equality (as in how rules are applied or opportunities are available). The 2 source (1984) defines democrat as one who advocates Democracy or one who belongs to the Democratic Party. The first source (1965) defines democrat as:
1.     A person who believes in and upholds government by the people
2.     A person who believes in and practices the principle of the equality of rights,         opportunity, etc.
3.     A member of the Democratic Party.

There are some significant definitions that I will point out that are repulsive to the current Republican Conservative Right, and are I think, the basis of their constant attacking the ideal of the historical meaning of being liberal.  I also refer you to the end of this article and footnote , which discusses how words are given their meaning.

I am going to digress for a moment to talk about the Two-Valued Orientation in Politics.  For reference, the idea of Good versus Evil is a Two-Valued way of thinking and believing. Everything that follows and in quotes is taken from Language In Thought & Action by S. I. Hayakawa.

"Under a two-party political system such as we have in the United States, there is abundant occasion for uttering two-valued pronouncements. Fortunately, most voters regard this two-valuedness of political debate as "part of the game," especially around election time, so that it does not appear to have uniformly harmful consequences. Overstatements on either side are at least partially canceled out by overstatements on the other."
"Nevertheless, there remains a portion of the electorate - and this portion is by no means confined to the uneducated - who take the two-valued orientation seriously. These are the people (including the TV & newspaper journalist) who speak of their opponents as if they were enemies of the nation rather than fellow-Americans with differing views and ideals as to what is good for the nation."

"On the whole, however, a two-valued orientation in politics is difficult to maintain in a two party system of government. The parties have to cooperate with each other between elections and therefore have to assume that members of the opposition are something short of fiends in human form. ( Note added by me: The congress under President Obama, is the first in my life time to show such juvenile behavior in the form of obstructionism, in the hope that the nation will suffer and the voters will blame the President. I do think that most rational thinking people will see through this, and vote with a compassionate heart next week.)

The public, too, in a two-party system, sees that the dire predictions of Republicans regarding the probable “tragic” results of Democrat rule, and the equally dire predictions of the Democrats regarding Republican rule, are never more that partially fulfilled.  Furthermore, criticism of the administration is not only possible, it is energetically encouraged by the opposition. Hence the majority of people can never quite be convinced that one party is "wholly good" and the other "wholly bad."

"But when a nation's traditions (or its lack of tradition) permit a political party to feel that it is… so good for the country that no other party has any business existing - and such a party gets control- there is immediate silencing of opposition. In such a case the party declares its philosophy to be the official philosophy of the nation and its interest to be the interest of the people as a whole.

"Whoever is an enemy of the National Socialist Party." As the Nazis said, "is an enemy of Germany," Even if you loved Germany greatly, but still did not agree with the National Socialist as to what was good for Germany, you were liquidated."  (From Language In Thought & Action by S. I. Hayakawa).

We also have the below from the Nazi Germany era:
"Anyone who dares to question the rightness of the National Socialist outlook will be branded as a traitor,"       Herr Sauckel, Nazi Governor of Thuringia, June 20, 1933.

" The official national Socialist orientation never permitted a relaxation of the two-valued conviction that nothing was too good for the "good" and nothing was too bad for the "bad," and the idea that there is no middle ground,
"Whoever is not for us is against us!"
This isthe cry of intolerance armed with certainty."…

Does this sound familiar? This was the mantra of the Republican administration after the events of September 11. 2001. It was used to justify an invasion of Iraq based on false accusations.

In the movie Outfoxed (www.outfoxed.org), there are numerous examples of the subject I am addressing. Fox News Network and the pundits who "speak the news" are clearly illustrated to be "experts" in this arena of pushing RNC propaganda. I urge everyone to see it and make up your own mind. You don't have to take my word for it. Fox News as a source proclaims to report "fair & balanced" news. There are many who believe it to be a voice of the political extreme right.

If you look at the 3 definition from the third source, you can see a clear example of how "labeling" from the Conservative Religious Right during the eighties and their effort to greatly influence the educational system in this country resulted in a negative connotation being entered into a dictionary.

If you are aware what was happening during that period, you will know that the political agenda of the Christian Coalition led by Ralph Reed was to infuse government with Ultra Conservative Fundamental Right Wing people ("true believers") and their beliefs. This was well documented. They have made it clear that they want to force their doctrine and dogma onto society, by law, as soon as they can take over all branches of the government.

I believe it was no coincidence that Ralph Reed stepped down from the presidency of the Christian Coalition when he became an adviser to President George W Bush and a paid consultant to Enron. I am not sure what skills he took to an oil / energy company that was the most corrupt and devious corporation in recent times. It may have been a reward for a job well done. And, it is not surprising that in 2012, Ralph Reed has resurfaced to support the effort to get Mitt Romney elected. The evangelical right now proclaim Mitt to be one of them. But, Mitt Romney has flip-flopped on every major element of the RNC policy platform since his time of running for Governor of Massachusetts in order to get the backing of corporate money and the religious right in this country.

And the latest continuing saga of Ralph Reed is highlighted below.

“The true surprise at the Tampa convention in 2012 was Ralph Reed’s resurrection. When the former head of the Christian Coalition was discovered to have raked in millions of dollars from the super lobbyist — and eventually convicted felon — Jack Abramoff, Reed wound up in political purgatory. But outraged by the election of Barack Obama, and responding to what he describes as God’s call (via Sean Hannity), Reed returned to start the Faith and Freedom Coalition with the aim of toppling Barack Obama from the White House. To succeed, Reed needs to win the allegiance of many of the trusting Christian followers he had duped and double-crossed while working with Abramoff.

While Romney, Ryan, Rubio, and Eastwood (talking to a chair) got the lion’s share of attention during the Republican Convention this week, three one-time college Republicans who are now the party’s real power-brokers — Karl Rove, Ralph Reed, and Grover Norquist — were busy doing what they do best: leveraging their political, "religious", and financial resources to back pro-corporate, anti-government objectives at the core of the conservative agenda.”  They were producing and spreading their own brand of propaganda.”

It is very well advertised, that no Republican candidate for President of the USA can ever hope to be elected to office without pledging to do the bidding of Grover Norguist and the billionaire backers of his efforts to take over the US government. As usual, Karl Rove is one of the “point men” in this effort.

They only need someone smart enough to “hold a pen as Grover Norguist put it, because they (their elected President) will only be doing “what he is told”.

I think we could say that as a Mormon, Mitt has “sold his soul to the devil”, to put it in the terms of the religious.

In a search of 18 separate sources on the web, all were similar to those already cited except one that really stood out, put forth by the Republican power brokers, indicating more revealing propaganda attempts in labeling their opposition party. The one standing out so blatantly is as follows.

A liberal is “One who denies some of the basic truths of Christianity”. (By a far right pundit)

This is the perfect example of trying to re-define the meaning of words. This idea is still shouted out in 2012 by the ones who belief that only their beliefs are truth and everybody else must be governed by them.

I have to ask, if the person who put this definition up was around 2000 years ago to witness and record what was "TRUTH"? Maybe the Roman Emperor Justinian who put the current form of the Bible together in about 535 AD, and decided, on his own, what would be recorded as TRUTH, was a friend of this persons.  (See footnote 2. at the end regarding the current Bible's origin).

If I take the attack on "Liberals" as coming from a group who basically oppose the words officially used to define liberal then I may conclude that they oppose the concepts of:

·Giving freely, generously and in abundance…………a clear Biblical teaching.

· Being broad minded : they prefer narrow minded & limited thinking instead without critical judgment.

Making progress………they want stagnation, regression & rigidity to be the rule.

·Being respectful of others and tolerantthey believeothers don't have the right of a differing opinion.

·Democratic reformit was real important when Caesar or Hitler had the power, but not if they get it. All though the "church" was not not strongly outspoken against Hitler.

·Using governmental resources for all……they believe only corporate and religious welfare should be allowed.

·Non literal acceptance……they want others to be ruled by their myths and non truths.

·Not giving in to all authority……..only “they” can define & be the authority for all others.

I think you get the point. I think you can see how words can be used. I have even done it myself. I also think the attempt to include the suggestion (3rd definition, 3rd source) that a liberal is lacking in moral restraint and disregarding of sexual restraint is a blanket, irresponsible, slanderous accusation of a group of people. Of course they may think I have committed the same "sin" by expressing my opinions. Its just that I favor progressive instead of regressive politics.

In modern media, news events there are reported numerous records of these so-called “religious ones” displaying a “lack of moral restraint” This seems to be the only method at which these people (ultra radical right wing conservatives) excel.

It will be their own behavior that defeats them, not an opposition party – in my opinion).

On a positive note, when I looked at four different dictionaries published that are on the shelf this week in 2012, there were no negative connotations defining liberal in any of them. Maybe fair & balanced defining does exist after all once again.

1. Language In thought & Action by S. I. Hayakawa, Fourth Edition. The book was first copyright in 1939 and updated in 1978 with new current examples.  Published by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich Inc. S. I. Hayakawa served as President of San Francisco State College from 1968-1973. In November of 1976 he was elected United States Senator from California

2. From these two sources: The Religions of Man by Houston Smith.  Harper & Row, 1958 and, Edgar Cayce on Reincarnation by Noel Langley, Warner Books Edition, 1967.

As for the Bible, the current form came into being about 535 years after the death of the historical Jesus.

From all the various writings of the time that chronicled the Hebrew history & mythology and the reported Philosophy of Jesus, a Byzantine Roman Emperor Justinian held what was called the Fifth Ecumenical Congress of Constantinople in 535 AD.

"The purpose of this congress was to condemn the teachings of Origen (185-254 AD), that until then, had been held vital to preserve the "original gospels".  Councils had been held before, but none had the impact on the future teachings that would be allowed.  In the year 325 the Emperor Constantine had summoned the Council of Nicea (three hundred Bishops attended) to "settle" the question of Jesus' divinity or humanity.

Later in 380 AD, Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire. This fifth council/congress was more secular than religious. Many documents believed to be significant and containing truths that Justinian did not want to include were discarded.

Pope Virgilius, the Pope at the time, was excluded from the meeting as well as all but six western Bishops. There were 159 Eastern Bishops attending, the ones that apparently were Justinian supporters. The Church of Rome at the time was powerless against the military supremacy of the Byzantium. With only 6 western Bishops attending, the vote naturally went the way Justinian wanted, and the basic form of today's Bible was set.

All the early gospels (writings) were either in Latin or Greek, and were never allowed getting into the hands of laymen. Religion became a puppet of the state

There was an effort to destroy all previous documents that were not aligned with the decisions of the Council and the desire of the Emperor Justinian. All documents that contained ideas contrary to the “official line of consciousness” were sought out and burned. Those who voiced opposition to what was happening and did not convert were killed.

For another 500 years, much disagreement continued between the early Eastern & Western Church, until 1054 AD when the Roman and Greek churches excommunicated each other. It became the Eastern Orthodox Church in the East and the Roman Catholic in the West.

The next great division took placed in the sixteenth century with the Protestant Reformation and the breaking away from the Western Roman Catholic Church."

Splits in the Church of course have continued until the present day. There are now more than 250 denominations in the United States alone, offering over 250 variations of the "Truth".

3.      From: Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, Merriam-Webster Inc., 1991)

"Perhaps the first thing that we need to remind ourselves of is that when we speak of the meaning of a word we are employing an artificial, if highly useful, convention. Meaning does not truly reside within the word but in the minds of those hearing or reading it. This fact alone guarantees that meaning will be to a great degree amorphous: no two people have had exactly the same experience with what a word refers to and so the meaning of the word will be slightly or greatly different for each of us.
It is obvious, then, that a dictionary which set itself the task of defining the meaning of words in their entirety, will undertake foolhardy enterprise. Therefore, the dictionary editors invoke the traditional distinction between--
(1) Denotation-- the direct and specific part of meaning, which is sometimesindicated as the total of all the referents of a word and is shared by all or most people who use the word--and
(2) Connotation-- the more personal associations and shades of meaning that gather about a word as a result of individual experience and which may not be widely shared.

I don’t claim to know the Truth with capital “T”, but I do think this so called democratic civilization may not survive with the divisions and social inequalities that are prevalent in today’s society. Wealth is once again being concentrated via preferential laws, and it appears that to effort to give money voting power is at its greatest. The problems can only be solved by an attitude of compassion and cooperation - and a complete overhaul of our basic systems; political, religious, and educational.

Think about the language you use and the meaning you place on words; they reflect you thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs. Change will come. Will you be on the progressive side of conscious evolution? Or will you be stuck in the dogmatic doctrine of dis-empowering beliefs?

Conclusion for this Op Ed - October 31, 2014:

Although I first wrote this treatise 10 year ago, I have reflected on the significance of the subject as another election cycle comes upon us. This is the first time it has been publicly published.

What got me thinking again about how I felt in the period 2000 - 2004, was the desire to write some comparisons of various contrasting world views that still guide groups of people, including me of course. My world views have changed over the years and I think have been moving in a direction of greater understanding, love tolerance, and compassion for all people. My focus currently is in spreading the "good news" as I see today. That being: We all create our own personal reality, using our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and intents; as an artist uses colors to create a picture on canvas. We are the producers, directors, actors, casting agents, and critic of our own lives. We are here to learn that we contain a powerful creative force that can be used for good, constructive purposes (for all), or for destructive, purposes.

It seems that nothing has really changed in the efforts of a certain political group that really avoids an evolution of consciousness and progressive change that benefits all humanity. This is a group that will find themselves in the minority, within a couple of decades at the most. They recognize this fact and fear the coming changes. This fear will most likely lead to more irrational behavior, even more than in the past, because fear is debilitating.

Little do they realize that their incessant focus on this fear will only give the positive changes more power and help bring them about! Even in the
Old Testament you find the caution – I believe it was Job who is quoted as saying “the thing I feared the most has come upon me”. Even back then they understood the Law of Attraction and the process of personal reality creation.

If you read all of this , I say Namaste" to you.

The Law of Attraction through the Ages
(The Rules for Reality Creation)

From just the introduction and the first chapter of The Nature of Personal Reality by Jane Roberts (a Seth book- 1974), we get a pretty good idea what is meant when we hear “The Law of Attraction” mentioned. It really means that we attract events, circumstances and people to us as a result of our directed beliefs, thoughts, emotions, desires, and expectations, or intentions.

The action of attracting takes place in a psychological realm Seth calls Framework 2. Some religions call it heaven. Scientists of old originally referred to something similar as the “ether”, but not the philosophical “ether” of Theosophy.  It has been called “The Divine Presence”, “The Thought Ocean”, “Infinite Intelligence” and “The Universal Creative Medium” by Ernest Holmes in The Science of Mind.

I think the Seth material gives modern society the best explanation I have found for the mechanics of this metaphysical Law of Creation in the realm of physical reality. It does not describe the realm with one of two lofty phrases, but with many detailed analogies and explanations for various life circumstances. This is a companion paper to the writing explaining Seth’s Framework 2.
Here are some of the ways it is expressed in those few pages of the Introduction and Chapter 1 of TheNature of Personal Reality by Jane Roberts:

· “You can change your experience by altering your beliefs about yourself and physical existence.”

· “We create our personal reality through our conscious beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world.”

“The conscious mind directs unconscious activity and has at its command all of the powers of the inner self. These powers are activated according to our ideas about reality.”

·“We are gods crouched in creature-hood, given the ability to form our experience as our thoughts and feelings become actualized.”

· “Each of you, regardless of your position, status, circumstances or physical condition, is in control of your own personal experience.”

· “Whether or not you realize it, you have pursued your present course with determination, using many resources, for ends or reasons that at one time made sense to you.”

·         “You see and feel what you expect to see and feel. The world as you know it is a picture of your expectations. The world as the race of humanity knows it is the materialization en mass of your individual expectations.”

·         “You can change your personal world. You have only to use your ability consciously, to examine the nature of your thoughts and feelings, and project those with which you basically agree.”

·“Matter is formed by those inner qualities that give it vitality, that structure follows expectation, that matter at any time can be completely changed by the activation of the creative faculties inherent in all consciousness.”

·“There is no effect in the exterior world that does not spring from an inner source. There is no motion that does not first occur within the mind.”

·“You project your thoughts, feelings, and expectations outward, and then you perceive them as the outside reality. When it seems to you that others are observing you, you are observing yourself from the standpoint of your own projections.”

·         “You are the living picture of yourself. You project what you think you are outward into flesh. Your feelings, your conscious and unconscious thoughts, all alter and form your physical image.”

·“Your feelings and thoughts form your exterior experience and the events that appear to happen to you, are initiated by you, within your mental or psychic inner environment.”

·“Exterior events, circumstances and conditions are meant as a kind of living feedback. Altering the state of the psyche automatically alters the physical circumstances.”

·“The mass conditions of the world and the situation of each individual in it, is the materialization of humanity’s progress as it forms the world.”

·“Your thoughts, feelings and mental pictures can be called incipient exterior events, for in one way or another each of these is materialized into physical reality.”

·“There is nothing in your exterior experience that did not originate with you.”

·“Interactions with others occur, yet there are none that you do not accept or draw to you by your thoughts, attitudes, or emotions. This applies in each area of life. It applies both before life and after it. In the most miraculous fashion you are given the gift of creating your experience.”

·“Your feelings have electromagnetic realities that rise outward, affecting the atmosphere itself. They group throughattraction, building up areas of events and circumstances that finally coalesce, either in matter as objects – or as events in time. Some feelings and thoughts are translated into structures that you call objects; these exist in a medium you call space. Others are translated instead into psychological structures called events that seem to exist in a medium called time. You react therefore not only to what is visible to your physical eyes in space, or to what is directly in front of you in time, but also to objects and events whose reality is still with you, though they may seem to have disappeared.”

·“Basically, you create your experience through your beliefs about yourself and the nature of reality. Another way to understand this is to realize that you create your experiences through your expectations.”

·“You make your own reality. There is no other rule.Knowing this is the secret of creativity.”

The Law of Attraction is not a new concept by any means. Over 2,600 years ago the idea was held in mind by many, as the book of Proverbs reports – “As a man thinks, so he becomes.” I am sure the idea was not new to the author who recorded it then, just as it is not new to those who have written about it since. It’s just that it is newly rediscovered each time.

Each person whose life has been changed by accepting the concept as a reality and truth has wanted to share it with others with varying personal twist sometimes added to it, with different metaphors and examples used to explain it. I can add my name to that long list.

In 1906, William Walker Atkinson published a book called Thought Vibrations. It is reported he discovered “The Secret” in the late 1880’s and validated it in his personal life experiences.  Atkinson shared with the world then, in his book as follows:
·         “There is no study that will so well repay the student for his time and trouble as the study of the workings of this mighty law of the world of Thought – the Law of Attraction. The Law applies to good habits as well as bad.”

·         “When we think, we send out vibrations of a fine ethereal substance, which are as real as the vibrations manifesting light, heat, electricity, or magnetism. That these vibrations are not evident to our five senses is no proof that they do not exist. A powerful magnet will send out vibrations and exert a force sufficient to attract to itself a piece of steel weighing a hundred pounds, but we can neither see, taste, smell, hear nor feel the mighty force.…The Law applies to good habits as well as bad.”

“Strong expectancy is a powerful magnet. A person with a strong confident desire attracts to themselves the things best calculated to aid them- whether persons, things, circumstances, or surroundings; if they are desired hopefully, trustfully, confidently, and calmly.

And, equally true, the person who FEARS a thing generally manages to start into operation, forces which will cause the thing feared to come upon them. “

·         “Your thoughts are either faithful servants or tyrannical masters – just as you allow them to be. Let your thoughts take form in action, and in turn your actions will influence your thoughts.”

·         “If you scatter your thought-force, the subconscious mind will not know just how to please you and the result is that you are apt to be put off from this source of aid and assistance.”

·         “The Law of Thought Attraction is one name for the law, or rather for one manifestation of it. Your thoughts are real things. They go forth from you in all directions, combining with the thoughts of like kind - opposing thoughts of a different character - forming combinations - going where they are attracted - flying away from thought centers opposing them.”

·         “Your mind attracts the thoughts of others, which have been sent out by them conscious or unconsciously. But it attracts only those thoughts which are in harmony with its own.”

·         “Your thoughts will mingle with those of others of like nature and mind. And you will be attracted toward each other, and will surely come together with a common purpose sooner or later, unless one of you should change the current of your thoughts.”

In the book Thought Power, originally published in 1903, by Annie Besant, she shares this:
“The mind is like a magnet, attracting and repelling, and the nature of its attractions and repulsion's can be determined by us. If we watch the thoughts which come into our minds, we shall find that they are of the same kind as those which we habitually encourage.

The mind attracts the thoughts which are congruous with its normal activities. If we, then, for a time, deliberately practice selection, the mind will soon do this selection for itself on the lines laid down for it, and so “negative” limiting thoughts will not penetrate into the mind, while the “positive” empowering will ever find an open door. We must think of that which we desire to receive, and refuse to think of that which we desire not to receive. Such a mind in the thought-ocean which surrounds it draws to itself the good.”

Fredrick Bailes wrote in the introduction to his book Hidden Power for Human Problems, published in 1957: “There is a creative law older than mankind, operating ceaselessly in everyone. It can furnish the dynamic needed to enable anyone to reach goals they have selected.

It operates inflexibly and without deviation. It is always creating something, with or without your consent. It creates bad things and it creates good things; happiness and unhappiness, success and failure. But – and here is the actual key to living – you can set the direction of its activity by cooperating with it. Let me say that again in another way: You can direct this law for your own betterment. The law exists to serve you. It is as certain, orderly, and unchangeable as are the laws of science.”

Jean Houston, a co-founder of the Foundation for Mind Research, and a pioneer and leader in the Human Potential Movement, writes in the forward for the 1998 edition of the book The Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes:

“Consciously or unconsciously we direct the flow of Universal Mind into form. In Holmes’s terms, “the cosmic engine is started but man guides it in his own life”.

"This grants us tremendous power and with it the innate responsibility to make or break our world through the extraordinary working power of our minds. Thus - the practical emphasis in The Science of Mind on schooling in the power of trained thought.

"So much of our ordinary thinking lapses into habitual patterns, with little variation from one day to the next. Our lives mirror this and fall in to serial monotony interrupted by episodes of trouble, panic, and loss. We live then, as limited, crippled versions of who and what we are, suffering the continuance of emotional plagues and toxic thoughts, and the world reflects this tragically.”

Ernest Holmes, in his book The Science of Mind, wrote in 1938:
“Each person is drawing from Life what they think into it! To learn how to think is to learn how to live, for our thoughts go into a medium that is Infinite in Its ability to do and to be. Everyone, by thinking, can bring into their experience whatsoever they desire – if they think correctly, and become a living embodiment of their thoughts.

This is not by “holding thoughts”, but by knowing the Truth…We all use the creative power of the Universal Mind every time we use our mind…All thought iscreative, according to the nature, impulse, emotion or conviction, behind the thought.

Thought creates a mold in the Subjective, in which the idea is accepted and poured, and set power in motion in accordance with the thought. Ignorance of this excuses no one with whimsical fancy….Great as the subconscious is, its tendency is set in motion by the conscious thought, and in this possibility lies the pathway to freedom…Thoughts are things, they have the power to objectify themselves; thought lays hold of Causation and forms real Substance…One of the ancient sayings is that “to the man who can perfectly practice inaction, all things are possible.”

"This sounds like a contradiction until one penetrates its inner meaning, for it is only when one completely practices inaction that he arrives at the point of the true actor, for he then realizes that the act and the actor are one and the same; that cause and effect are the same; which is simply a different way of saying: “Know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”  To reduce the whole thing to its simplest form, whatever one reflects into Mind tends to take form.”…… (Chapter 18 in the book is titled - The Law of Attraction.

I think by now you get the idea that the concept of The Law of Attraction has been around for a long time. As I said previously, “The Law of Attraction” is a catch phrase for a process that governs the creation of our personal reality. All that this entails is summarized in the Seth books by Jane Roberts, especially in The Nature of Personal Reality.

What most people miss is the fact that the process is grounded in our personal belief systems. The nature of our thinking, the nature of our thoughts and emotions, are grounded in our core beliefs and all the other beliefs that collect around the core beliefs.

The Seth material deals with this fact in great detail as related to all aspects of living a fulfilled life as we solve our problems that arise, in a practical way. For the “Law” to work, requires a concerted effort in examining our beliefs and dropping the limiting beliefs that build barriers around our hearts desires.

To those who are ready to do the work, and take complete responsibility for their lives, the wisdom and knowledge will be attracted to like steel to a magnet. I will close today with one more example.

For 20 years, Napoleon Hill studied the lives of hundreds of successful men in all walks of life in various personal endeavors. When he completed his study, he compiled volumes and published in 1928, The Laws of Success.  Later in 1937, Hill published a summary of those volumes in the book Think and GrowRich.

In the introduction to Think and Grow Rich he writes: “I have never known anyone who was inspired to use the secret who did not achieve noteworthy success in his chosen calling. I have never known any person to distinguish themselves, or to accumulate riches of any consequence, without possession of the secret. From these two facts I draw the conclusion that the secret is more important, as a part of the knowledge essential for self determination, than any which one receives through what is properly known as “education”…

"When Henley wrote the prophetic lines, “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul,” he should have informed us that we are the masters of our fate, the captains of our souls, because we have the power to control our thoughts.
He should have told us that our brains become magnetized with the dominating thoughts which we hold in our minds, and, by means with which no person is familiar, these “magnets” attract to us the forces, the people, and the circumstances of our life which harmonize with the nature of our dominating thoughts.”

“Whatever THE MIND can CONCEIVE and BELIEVE it can ACHIEVE” – Napoleon Hill.

So it is, the key to unlock the secret is that word BELIEVE – All things we experience in our lives, are mirrors of our thoughts,  emotions,  imaginations, desires and expectations held in MIND and grounded in our BELIEFS.

So now, what is it you would like to attract into your life?

Are you holding any limiting beliefs that will prevent you from achieving the result?

Do have thoughts that reflect opposition to attaining what you desire?

Is the emotional intensity you feel supporting the scope of your desire?

Can you see yourself already having accomplished it?

Take time now to answer these questions for your life.

The Law of Attraction Revisited

The Law of Attraction

Dream Awareness Network
Next class at Enchanted Spirits in Dunedin, FL will be July 18.
Facilitator:  John W. Robinson.

The next class in the series Creating and Living a Magical Life will deal with the popularized “Law of Attraction”.

The Law of Attraction was commercialized and popularized in the DVD movie “The Secret”, produced by Rhonda Byrnes, an Australian television producer. The movie was based on a book published by Ester and Jerry Hicks in 2006, “The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham.”

“The Secret” claims to reveal the single most powerful law in the universe - a law that no matter who you are, no matter where you are, you can change your life. Ester and Jerry Hicks’ teachings were first included in an audio cassette series they recorded in 1988. Their teachings began some time after Jerry had become enthralled with the teachings of Seth, as present in the body of work known as the Seth material, published by Jane Roberts.

Our introduction of the Seth material began in December 1963 when the writer, poet, mystic and psychic Jane Roberts began receiving information from a non-physical entity that called itself Seth. Jane Roberts then spent the next 20 years receiving and publishing this valuable information which presented an alternate view of reality. The material covers the mechanics of reality creation in the physical world we exist and live in as well as a deep and thorough teaching of the Law of Attraction. In my opinion, to this date, it is broader in scope and richer in depth, as compared to more recent material repackaging the same information.

I am not saying that the work of previous nor subsequent teachers is not valuable, because it certainly is. Everyone is an individual and therefore, will have a unique collection of experiences and beliefs. Variations of the same messages will be necessary in order to resonate with the various world views held by different individuals. What I think is important is that the teachings communicate the truth that the real power for change resides within the individual and not external, in the hands of some other authority or institution.

In the next class, we will deal with the law of attraction and such questions as:

·   If, in 2014, everybody now knows about “The Secret”, why do so many have  such difficulty in creating the kind of life they say they desire and wish for?
·   Why is the current divorce rate reported as still remaining at slightly greater than  50%?
·   Why are 40 million people reported as living in poverty?
·   Why do so many say they are searching for their “soul mate”, which will bring  them happiness?
·  Why are mass killings on an increase in America?
·  Why does the political system seem so in shambles and not in tune with the real needs of people?
·  Why does the Rand Corp. report that the number of people with a chronic    disease condition is l rapidly increasing – (now at 45% of the population)?
·  Why did the world economy collapse in 2006?
·  Why does life seem so tragic at times?

·  Why are personal relationships so difficult to manage sometimes?
·  Does a soul mate even exist for any individual?

Being a student of reality creation and consciousness for over 50 years, I know there are answers in general for each of those questions. The big question is - how do I apply the teachings in order to live a more fulfilled and richer life?  In class, we will look below the tip of the iceberg of information we have been told before and explore the archeology of the inner self, the source of such concerns.

If “The Secret” is not working for you in the manner you desire, this class may be for you. It will launch us into deeper explorations of our true selves and our place in the universe. The classes to follow will expand on the ideas presented and explore answers to the questions in detail.

Below are some quotes from antiquity that put both Seth & Abraham in perspective. There have been many teachers in the past that have tried to grab our attention:

The Maitri Upanishad (800-400 BC): “Let us therefore keep the mind pure, for what a man thinks that he becomes.”

David of the Old Testament (1040–970 BC): “As one thinks in his heart, so is he.”

Jesus of the New Testament (6–4 BC to 30–33 AD): “Whatever you ask for with all your mind, believing in, you shall receive.”

Annie Besant (1847-1943): “The mind is like a magnet, attracting and repelling, and the nature of its attractions and repulsions can be determined by ourselves.”

Ernest Holmes (1887-1960): “The Laws of Attraction and Repulsion are entirely subjective. This means that whatever man thinks falls into a Universal Creative Medium, is accepted by it, is at once acted upon and unless neutralized tends to take objective form.”

Bardol Thodol – Tibetan Book of the Dead (700’s AD): “I will abandon all thoughts of fear and terror, I will recognize whatever appears as my projection.”

Jesus in the Gospel of Thomas (50-125 AD): “The difficulty which you expect will surely materialize.”

Marcus Aurelius (121-180 AD)): “A man’s life is what his thoughts make of it.”

Publilius Syrus (1. century BC): “A wise man will be master of his mind; a fool will be its slave.”

John Milton (1608-1674): “The mind is its own place and in itself can make heaven of hell or a hell of heaven.”

Shakespeare (1564-1616): “There is nothing either good or bad except that thinking makes it so.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882): “Great men are those who see that thoughts rule the world.” …”A man is what he thinks all day long.”

David J. Schwartz (1927-1987):  “When you believe, your mind finds ways to do.”

William James (1842-1910): “Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living, and your belief will help create the fact.” …”Both thought and feeling are determinants of conduct, and the same conduct may be determined either by feeling or by thought.” …”The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes.”

Napoleon Hill (1883-1970) “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe it can achieve.” …”There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge.” …”Both poverty and riches are the offspring of thought.”

Emile Coue (1857-1926): “Always think of what you have to do as easy and it will become so.”

Henry David Thoreau (1818-1862): “Events and circumstances have their origins in ourselves.” …What a man thinks of himself, that is which determines, or rather indicates his fate.” …You conquer fate by thought.” ...”Our thoughts are the epochs of our lives; all else is but a journal of the winds that blew while we were here.” …”Fear creates danger and courage dispels it.”

Aristotle (384-322 BC): “The soul never thinks without a picture.” …“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Seth via Jane Roberts (1929-1984): “Experience is the product of the mind, the spirit, conscious thoughts and feelings, and unconscious thoughts and feelings. These together form the reality you know.” …”What exists physically exists first in thought and feeling. There is no other rule. Knowing this is the secret of creativity” … “Basically you create your experience through your beliefs about yourself and the nature of reality.” …“You create your experience through your expectations.” …”The present is your point of power in your current lifetime.”

My intent was not to bore you with quotes but to paint a picture of the rich history of our civilization and how it was molded and influenced by people who understood the concept of one’s personal responsibility in the creation of one’s reality.
And yet, we still ponder: “why is there so much going on in the world that we deem undesirable?"

Seth gives us an explanation of how personal and mass events are created.

I’ll see you in class on July 18. Namaste’,

What Is Consciousness?

Posted on June 1, 2014 at 10:27 PM Comments comments (43)
Consciousness
What is it?  How does it work? Where does it come from?

It may help to think of how mathematics is organized and develops, as an analogy to understanding the concepts discussed here.  It is not probable that you could understand higher math concepts without first acquiring an understanding of the lower level math processes.

If you have ever studied math to the level of differential equations, you know that before you can understand the subject, you must have a good grasp of the many theorems and laws developed in studying calculus. And before understanding calculus as a scientific problem solving tool, you must have acquired the knowledge of algebra, geometry and trigonometry. But, you cannot really understand geometry, trig and algebra with having a working knowledge of basic arithmetic and being able to start that understanding through the ability to count using numbers. The better you understand each successive level of math, the better able you are to progress and use it as a problem solving tool. Acquiring the process enables you to count cookies or to begin a journey to mars with the certainty that you will get there. Keeping with the “technical” theme, the same progression is true of the study and application of physics or any of the sciences. With each subject, there are relationships and patterns of organization that you must learn in order to grasp a workable understanding of the body of knowledge.
If math or physics is not your preferred analogy, think of how your body is put together. I presume that most people have a basic understanding of the organization of their body. The physical body as a whole is an organization of major organs and delivery systems such as blood systems, lymph systems and the electrical system.  There are also “less physical” systems such as information storage, thinking, intuition, dreaming, and consciousness. In just considering the physical aspects of the body, we can develop a similar analogy.
The organs and delivery systems are all composed of cells organized in specific arrangements with very specific relationships shared among them. Let something interfere with the relationships and organizations, and you may experience a cut finger, the common cold or even a life threatening disease. All the cells that are the building blocks for the organs and delivery systems of the body are composed of similar relationships and organizations of molecules. It is the working together for the greater good, of all these molecules collectively, that allows the organs and delivery systems to perform their function and do their task of sustaining life.
We can’t stop with the molecules. These structures are built up from very specific arrangements and relationships of atoms that are in a cooperative venture to maintain stability in bonding and the structure of the molecules, the building blocks that compose the cells - that make up the organs and delivery systems of the physical body. We now know that science has verified that within months or just a very few years, every atom in the body is replaced with an atom that was once external to your body. This poses the question: How does the cell retain the memory of what its role is in the life process, when all of its constituent parts are constantly being replaced?

We aren't finished with the body analogy until we travel inside the atom and find that it too consists of other smaller units such as electrons, protons and neutrons that must remain in a specific relational arrangement in order to maintain stability. Let a certain mass event occur with a sufficient collection of specific atoms of an element such as uranium 235 or plutonium and you have an atomic fission bomb. A mass of uranium 235, smaller than a bowling ball, is what destroyed the entire city of Hiroshima in Japan toward the end of WW-2, when the energy was released through such a “mass event”. With this event, as Einstein postulated, the world found out there was indeed a relationship between material mass and energy. This relationship was stated as being proportional to the square of the speed of light (186,000 miles/second squared);  became the most famous equation discussed for many decades and even now.

But, as physicists discovered, there are even smaller building blocks that make up the protons and neutrons that are in the nucleus of the atom. This peering deeper and deeper into the atomic structure soon reveals that the apparent beginning of these particles is no more than pure energy that is not physical at all, even though the reference at the lowest level is still to “particles”. Not only that, but empty space is theorized to be full of this non physical “dark” energy. It is labeled dark energy because it is unseen. It must be there, scientists say, for the universe to make sense given their level of knowledge and the equations developed.

This finally brings me to the present point, where I wish to start this discussion of what is consciousness? Most of the wording in this discussion will follow closely to the Seth view of reality as expressed in several of the volumes published by Jane Roberts, who was probably the 20 century’s most interesting mystic and psychic. It was Jane Roberts who brought the world the body of wisdom and knowledge known as the Seth material. Specific volumes that were sources for this information will be listed in the end notes. The Seth view of reality differs from the typical religious or scientific worldviews of reality, how it came into existence and how it functions. I will go into the contrast between this discussion and the dominant religious creation story and the scientific “big bang” & random events views of reality in another paper. Most people are aware of the basics of the conventional religious views and the popularly held scientific or evolutionary views. I might add that even today they started out as a theory and the beginnings of each remain as theories that have never been proven.
It cannot be proven scientifically that our world was created by a god who set it into motion, but remained outside of its dominion. Nor can it be proven scientifically that the creation of the world was the result of a chance occurrence (the big bang) though it is said to be deduced from observation – so, I will not be able to prove what I am going to share with you either. Not in usual terms. The explanations you are about to read will give certain hints and clues, that will show you where to look for subjective evidence as we live our lives through our own subjective knowing. Some say perception is reality.

There are a couple of suggestions I have that will help in understanding this material. The first is to let your mind be “open” for new possibilities and to “suspend disbelief”, if only for a while, in the impossibility of what is shared. Allow for the possibility of these ideas to be valid, even as the other “officially” accepted religious and scientifically based views about reality, which many people have held on to, were assumed valid and not questioned by most people for so long. Indeed, some beliefs currently held may have to be changed or eliminated in order for the deeper implications of this material to sink in. Allow for the importance of not only our intellect, but also the importance of our dreams, impulses and intuitions that speak to us of a greater inner reality that we can indeed experience and practically use in our lives to guide us and to help us solve practical problems.
So, let us begin with an alternate view of reality as explained in much detail in the collected volumes of the Seth material published by Jane Roberts (and her spouse Robert Butts) and New Awareness Networks Inc. that took up the continued publication of previously unpublished material upon Jane’s death in 1984. The original manuscripts of Jane’s are kept alive today through Amber-Allen Publishing Inc.

Yale University has in its archives, copies of all of the volumes of material that was produced over a 20 year period by Jane Roberts. Jane has been referred to as one of the 20th century’s greatest mystics and psychics, who lived at a time when the material was shunned by most religious, scientific and educational institutions. With my paraphrasing added in many places for clarity, let us contemplate on what Seth shared with the world through Jane and Rob; and Jane’s ESP classes that she taught for about 11 years in Elmira, New York.

Consciousness Is the Vitalizing Force Behind the Physical Universe

“There is a basic unit of consciousness, that expressed, will not be broken down, as once it was thought that an atom was the smallest unit and could not be broken down.

The basic unit of consciousness obviously is not physical. It contains within itself innately infinite prospects of expansion, development and organization; yet within its self always maintains the kernel of its own individuality. Despite whatever organizations it becomes a part of, or how it mixes with other such basic units, its own identity is not annihilated.

The basic unit of consciousness (CU for consciousness unit) is the source of all other kinds of consciousnesses, and the varieties of its activities are infinite. It is aware energy, identified within its self as its self, not “personified”, but “awarized”. The basic unit of consciousness (CU) combines with others of its kind, forming then units of consciousness – as atoms and molecules combined to form various structures. This CU is endowed with unpredictability, which allows for infinite patterns and fulfillments. The organizations of consciousness “grow” even as cells grow into organs of the body and delivery systems within the body.

Each “particle” of consciousness is dependent on every other. The strength of one adds to the strength of all. The weakness of one weakens the whole. The energy of one recreates the whole.  The striving of one increases the potentially of ALL THAT IS, and this places great responsibility upon every other consciousness. As used in the Seth material, All That Is, is the GOD concept, but described in an entirely different way. Consciousness forms its own organizations and psychic interactions, such as precognition, clairvoyance and telepathy at all levels.

Any consciousness automatically tries to express itself in all probable directions, and does so. In so doing it will experience ALL THAT IS through its own being, though interpreted, of course, through that familiar reality of its own. The structure of probabilities deals with parallel experience on all levels. Your consciousness picks and chooses to accept as real, the results of, and ramifications of, only certain overall purposes, desires, or intents. You follow these through a time structure. Your focus allows other just-as-legitimate experience to become invisible or unfelt. Consciousness is able to hold its own sense of identity by accepting one probability, one physical life, for example, and maintaining its identity through a lifetime.

From the seemingly “chaotic” bed of your dreams, springs your ordered daily organized action. In your reality, the behavior of your consciousness and of your molecules is highly connected. Your type of consciousness presupposes a molecular consciousness, and your kind of consciousness is inherent in molecular consciousness – inherent within your system, but not basically predictable.
Now, a quick review of the CU’s, or basic units of consciousness:

·      The CU’s are endowed with unpredictability.
·      The very unpredictability of the CU’s allows for infinite patterns and fulfillments.
·      The very nature of these CU’s is the vitalizing force behind everything in our             physical universe, and all other universes as well.
·       CU’s attempt to expresses themselves in all probable directions.

Some additional advanced attributes of the CU’s are:

·      CU’s can indeed appear in several places at once, and without going through           space, in your terms.
·      Literally, these CU’s can be in all places at once.
·      The CU’s will not be recognized. They will always appear as something else.
·      CU’s move faster than the speed of light!
·      There are many millions of CU’s in just one atom.
·Each CU is aware of the reality of all others; and influences all others.
·      In our terms, these CU’s can move forward or backward in time!

It seems to me, that these CU’s postulated by Seth In the 1960’s, may be the “God particle” that physicists have been searching for, and theorize they may have discovered through high energy collisions in the CERN particle accelerator, near Geneva, Switzerland, used to do research into the basic structure of matter.

It may not surprise you that Seth’s main formula to rival Einstein’s is that E = M = C; or Consciousness is equal to energy, is equal to matter; consciousness and energy and matter are all one - More on this rule later. Maybe you are beginning to realize the fact that there is more creativity and variety in the unknown reality than you ever physically perceived.

The CU’s do not have human characteristics of course. They do however; possess their own “inclinations”, or leanings or “propensities”. They are not clumps of “idle” energy. They are vitalized, aware and charged with all the qualifications of being. All psychological structures are composed of such organizations, however long or short lived in our terms. They are innately endowed with the desire or propensity for growth and creative organization. They are not found alone in isolation. They grow out of themselves.

Think if you will of the word “soul”. Unfortunately, this word has been so used in regard to our species, that it becomes highly difficult to unravel the conceptual difficulties surrounding the word “soul”. Using usual definitions, we would call a soul the result of a certain organization of these basic units of consciousness (CU’s), which we would recognize as a “soul”.   The conscious mind is a vehicle for the expression of the soul or psyche in corporeal terms. This then leads to the inevitable questions:

·         Do animals have souls?
·         Do trees have souls?
·         Do rocks have souls?
·         Does the earth have a soul?

So, in line with the usual definition of “souls” given above, the smallest CU would be called “soul stuff”. This view point however is highly limited, for “above us”, using the usual scale of things, there are other more developed organizations of these units; and so from that “more exalted viewpoint”, we would seem to be junior souls indeed.

The complex nature of other animal consciousness escapes you completely. And when you compare your technologies, learning, logical thought and cultures and arts; with what you understand of animal experience, there seems no doubt that you are superior and “The Flower of Evolution” – that all other kinds of life are topped by your existence. But, you have been closed to the intricate, voluptuous, sensuous, social experience of the animals, or even the plants – not being able to perceive that different kind of biological emotion and belonging; that rich sensual identification with earth, and you have been cut off from a biologically oriented culture that is everywhere part and parcel of both plant and animal life. You are a part of that also, but the conscious mind, with its own specifications, cannot manipulate with that kind of knowledge.

There is no such thing as nonliving matter. You interpret animal behavior according to your own beliefs.  Since it is the beliefs of the conscious mind that regulates the involuntary bodily motions and the entire physical system, then contradictory beliefs obviously set up adverse physical reactions and imbalances in the body.”
Now that we have reviewed some of the basic preliminary concepts, in what may seem to be a simplified manner, we can go a little deeper in understanding how consciousness functions.

The Universe is Always Being Created at Every Moment

“All matter is based upon these units of consciousness, with their unpredictability and their propensity for exploring all probabilities. If this is true, then obviously “you” are normally aware of only one small probable portion of your self – and this portion you protect as your identity. If you think of it as simply a focus taken by “your” greater identity, then you will be able to follow as we continue our discussion. The focus that each of us has is valid and indeed inviolate. You are conscious of this portion of your greater self that is your identity in physical reality. What you think of as daily life is then a focus upon certain probable events above others, a choosing of significances, and a selection of pattern.

In each now-moment or the present, you draw from the vast bank of unpredictable actions certain ones that are “significant” to you; and your private idea of significance will result in what seems to be predictable action. (Side note: the NSA is currently collecting meta-data on every individual in hopes of being able to model this selection process that leads to individual actions.)  Propensity then is a selection of significance, an inclination toward the formation of selected experience. This applies on all levels; atomic, psychological, biological stimulus as well as mental intent.

You have a greater reality outside of your context, yet a part of it is inside your context, as “you”.  Your “youness” is your significance, a focus of awareness, conscious of itself, that seeks out and views experience with its own unique propensities. Your greater reality obviously transcends both your births and your deaths. Your soul has eternal validity!  The Greek word psyche can be translated to the word soul.

There are then, probabilities quite present, and for that matter biologically practical, that would allow for a change in individual consciousness so great, as to literally propel the race into another level of experience entirely. But, always remember that in the life you know, your beliefs act to specify the particular probable events that will become “real” for you.

You cannot separate your beliefs about reality from the reality that you experience. That is, your beliefs about reality form it. Your ideas about what is possible and what is not possible are reflected in all areas of your life. So, the harder you work to maintain a belief in the “officially accepted” ideas of the self and the world, in conventional limiting terms, the more you block out any kind of unpredictability – the more you block out growth, change and expansion of consciousness.

Consciousness Flowers Out In All Directions

Continuing, we have called the basic units of consciousness CU’s. From the CU’s, EE units are formed, and the first roots of physical matter were sent out into the world. EE units or electromagnetic energy units are described by Seth as:

·         Emanations basically arising from consciousness.
·         The invisible breath of consciousness.
·         Emanations that are emotional tones.
·         Units which are just beneath the range of physical matter.
·         Just one form that emotional energy takes.

There are many ranges and great varieties of such EE units, all existing beyond your perceptive reach. To lump them together in such a way, however, is misleading, for within all of this there is great order. These units, though moving faster than the speed of light, slow down, in our terms, as they approach physical structure. Electrons are slow dullards in comparisons with EE units for example.
It goes without saying that these units of consciousness (EE units) are “mental”. But, from their inner organization all physical forms emerge.

Certain intensities are built up of unit organization even before the smallest physical particle, or even invisible “physical particle exists. These units form what you think of as the mind, around which the structure of the brain is formulated. These units permeate the brain. The great communication system within the body itself is dependent upon the constant inner flux and flow of these units.  On one level the body’s very survival is largely determined by the unit’s propensities for selectivity and significance.  Only because these units (EE) have their source outside of space and time is the present corporal reality a triumph of probabilities.

The mind, which is not physically represented in the material body, does exist electrically. The brain, which does exist physically, is a part of the mind in the electric structure. To study the human body from only the physical standpoint, or to consider it as exclusively a physical phenomenon, is to severely limit your perception of it, and of reality as a whole. To study psychology exclusively in terms of the brain’s effect upon the physical body is likewise hampering and limiting, for the brain is merely that portion of, that very small portion, of the mind which is apparent within matter. Within your physical field the brain is subject to the laws of your field. The mind, having its existence within the scope of the physical field but independentof it, is a much more fruitful subject for study.

These units of consciousness, being independent of space and time, form your cellular structure and that structure deals in a most basic manner with the nature of probabilities.Your cellular structure then has a cellular consciousness. The cells then have the ability to precognate, or to acquire future information that cannot be deduced from presently available and normally acquired sense-based information. Further, this implies that although the body appears permanent and in existence from one moment to the next, basically it constantly rises out of the bed of probabilities, hovering at your now-point of perception and experience. Its apparent stability is dependent upon the knowledge of “future” probabilities as well as past ones.

Following this line of thought then, you also have a body consciousness. The cellular consciousness experiences itself as eternal, though to you the cells have a brief life. But those cells are aware of the body’s history, in your terms, and in a much more familiar fashion than you are aware of the earth’s history.
Your present then is the result of your own poised consciousness, choosing its perception and the nature of its life from a field that is sometimes predictable, only because of the greater area of organization available to it. Your present is a poised balance affected as much by the probable future as the probable past.”

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

Hamlet (1.5.167-8), Hamlet to Horatio

“You view the fantastic variety of physical life – its animal, insects, birds, fish, humans, and all the works of humans – with hardly a qualm; yet you must understand that the nature of consciousness itself is far more varied, and you must learn to think of an inner reality that is as infinite as the exterior one. These concepts alone do alter your present consciousness, and change it in some degree.

The present conventional idea of a soul, held by many, is a “primitive idea” that can scarcely begin to explain the creativity or reality from which the “human” being comes. You are multidimensional persons. Yet you exist in many times and places at once. Simultaneously you exist as one person. This does not deny the independence of the other persons, but your inner reality straddles their reality, while it also serves as a psychic world in which they can grow. Reincarnation simply represents probabilities in a time context.  All consciousness, in all its forms, exists at once.

Your conventional idea of one soul, one self, forms a significance and a selectivity that blinds you to these other realities that are as much “here and now” as your present self.  The units of consciousness that compose your physical being alone are aware of those greater significances, to which your limited ideas and beliefs make you opaque.

The body’s innate knowledge then, will try to translate itself often into psychological activity that may result in hunches, premonitions and so forth. The physical senses may then be used to clarify the message.   According to your beliefs, you may interpret such data in any manner of ways. Because such experiences may not be accepted or recognized as “officially accepted” activity, because of your beliefs, they may appear frightening. You may assign them to “spirits” or disembodied personalities, but in such a way that they are thrown together in a confusing mass of dogma or superstition.  You may be “guilty” of using “prejudiced perception”.

If you understood to begin with that you are a spirit, and therefore free of space and time yourself, then you could at least consider the possibility that some such messages were coming to you from other portions of your own reality.

While inhabited by the usual human consciousness, the living body operates as an intense focus point. The conglomeration of consciousnesses within it on all levels focuses its own network of communication. This private network is connected to all others like it.  There are levels of attractions then simply between all bodies, electromagnetically and biologically.  The network is more far reaching than that even. Not only can all cells respond to each other, but their mass activity triggers even higher centers of consciousness to respond to a given set of world conditions, rather than to other quite-as-legitimate world conditions that do not fit the accepted pattern that has been chosen. Probabilities to some extent then are determined along cellular lines. When consciousness is being specified, it always sees itself at the center of its world. All specifications of consciousness and all phenomenal appearances occur when the basic units of consciousness, the CU’s, emerge into EE units (electromagnetic energy), and hence into the dimensions of actuality in your terms.

Your mainly accepted normal consciousness is within the matter of your body. Through your body, you view your world. There is nothing to prevent you from viewing your body from a standpoint outside of it, except that you have been taught to believe that consciousness is imprisoned within the flesh. The body is a sending and receiving organism; your home station, so to speak, and the focus of your activity. You can, however, quite consciously leap from it, step outside of it, or depart from it – and you do often, particularly in the dream state, where you view the world from another perspective.
Your conscious mind as you normally think of it is the psychological structure that directs your overall actions, and its ideas and beliefs determine the kind of selectivity you use. So, what are the implications of knowing that your body, as your home station, is a sending and receiving organism? What are the various sources of communications that bring information to your conscious mind? The various psychological activities and realities we knowingly or unknowingly engage in, that provide communications to our conscious minds that have been expressed so far are: the physical senses, the dream state, hunches, intuitions, premonitions, cellular consciousness, body consciousness of self & others, the gestalt of other multidimensional selves that you are a part of, your greater identity or soul,  and by logical reasoning, the consciousness of animals plants and maybe even the earth itself.

Consciousness is merely the direction in which the self looks. Consciousness is the focus, the direction of focus. The ordinary state of consciousness is no different from the trance state. You have merely turned the focus of your attention into different realities.  Consciousness is merely a state of focus, and not a self. The conscious mind is a vehicle for the expression of the soul in corporeal terms.”
Now, It’s time to look further into these psychological structures – the mechanism or processes that emerge and are communicated to our conscious minds from an inner reality and results in greater creativity, imagination, inspiration, problem solving and healing abilities. It is time to learn to be a natural person; a person that takes a magical approach to life, blending the powers of the intuitional and emotional self with the powers of the intellect or rational, reasoning mind.

The natural person is to be found beneath layers and layers of “official” beliefs. We deal with the archeology of beliefs as we dig to find the person who creates beliefs to begin with. Evidence of clairvoyance, telepathy, or whatever, are not eccentric, isolated instances occurring in human experience, but are representative of natural patterns of everyday behavior arising from portions of our subconscious, that become invisible in the world only because of the “official” pictures and world views of behavior and reality that have been rigidly held on to for so long. When we take the natural approach and become that natural person, we discover that we can indeed, Create and Live a Magical Life.

Conversations With A Tree

Reflections on My Conversation with a Tree

I had completed the tale of my conversation with a tree which is told below, and it had been edited, but I hesitated to post it, feeling like a key element was missing. It was this morning that new intuitions surfaced. I think what was missing was my realization of the connections between my past and my present awareness, and a deeper understanding of those connections. This story shows how all of our experiences in life are linked together, moving us in a general direction according to some as yet undiscovered blueprint for our life,  that is always a part of our psyche. I added this reflection as a prelude to my story about my conversation with a tree because I think it contains an example of how we all have fractal patterns of experiences, both psychological and physical as we go through life. We can learn more about ourselves if we can learn to recognize these patterns. This was also one of the topics covered in the Jean Houston class I reference below.

During my childhood and throughout my formative years, plants were significant in the lives of my father and grandmother who raised me until age 9. I remember the first house I lived in and one of the activities my father was engaged in the whole time we lived there – about 7 years.  My father probably always planted a vegetable garden in the backyard. The garden seemed large to me when it came time to pull out weeds, even though I know it must have been small, maybe only about 10 X 20 feet in size.

When the bounty was ready to harvest, I would be sent to the garden at times, to harvest the rewards Nature and hard work had provided. I had sometimes even helped plant the seeds or seedlings and before that, clear the area of unwanted grass or weeds in preparation of the planting. Watering the plants was also one of my chores as a small child. After the harvest was piled in the kitchen, I remember helping my grandmother clean the various varieties of vegetables and prepare them for canning. At times there were enough to last until the next season.

Through this experience I learned to grow beans of different varieties, tomatoes, cucumbers, collards, spinach, okra, corn, onions, potatoes, lettuce, squash, bell peppers, and probably some items I have forgotten. During the early summer months, I also remember car trips out of town to pick wild blackberries, raspberries, and plums that would be growing alongside the country roads.

It was only upon reflection of that experience later in life, that I realized that my father had taught me valuable lessons about Nature, survival and life that he had learned growing up on a farm in Alabama during the depression years. I never heard him complain about any of those experiences. He always seemed to have a can-do attitude, and only lost that attitude in his late fifties when faced with the challenge of a body diseased with cancer – the cancer overcame that attitude. Even today, May 2014, there is a small patch of yard about 2 ft. X 10 ft. with tomatoes, beans and 3 colors of bell peppers growing. It’s not that I have to plant and sow, like my father did, but more that it is an example of what I learned from my father. I think it is also the wonder and enjoyment of watching the magic; how a tiny seed goes through all the transformations as it produces a new harvest of seeds; the source of propagation and survival of that species.

Although my grandmother did the work of preparing, canning, cooking and serving the nutritious garden items, it was her love of flowers that made a different kind of impact on me. Depending on the season, I was her little helper when her plants needed watering or covered up in the wintertime when a frost or freeze warning was made known. I think she had an intuition for when they needed covering since we had no television and I don’t remember her listening to the radio that much, even though she must have, unknown to me. She must have taught me how to propagate plants by cuttings as well, because it is something I have always done for the plants that are conducive to this method. Grandmother loved to keep Easter lilies, poinsettias, hydrangeas, and begonias in clay pots or old metal cooking pots setting around on the front porch to admire when we would sit out there on the swing or in the rocking chair taking in the scene as life flowed by. Outside my office window in the butterfly garden and around the yard are now poinsettias, hydrangeas, and lilies of various types, along with butterfly attractors as the fragrant varieties are labeled.

It all makes sense to me now that this morning when I was “guided” to pick up a book, open it,  and began reading on page 253, that I had found what may have been the key element I felt was missing, that I needed to complete this blog. The book’s title is On Channeling Your Higher Self by Henry Reed. It is based on the teachings of Edgar Cayce, once called America’s greatest “sleeping prophet”. The passage I will share is in the chapter titled Being a Channel of Healing Forces, under the heading, The Secret of the Green Thumb. I have always been told by others that I “have a green thumb”, when they get to know a lot about me. So, I would like to share this passage with you and I think you will see the connection with my story below.

The Secret of the Green Thumb
“Luther Burbank, the famous American horticulturalist, knew the secret of the creative force active in the life of plants. In his Autobiography of a Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda, the influential Indian master called Burbank an American Saint. Yogananda visited with Burbank on his trips to America. He was delighted with Burbank’s spiritual orientation to his plants. The results he achieved through this orientation were evident in his experiments with plants. Burbank admitted to Yogananda that he talked with his plants. He developed thorn-less cacti, for example, by telling them that they had nothing to fear and thus no need for such protection. Although he knew that the will of the plant is much stronger than the will of a human being who might wish to bend the plant’s habits, Burbank learned the secret of blending new life patterns into the plants structure. “The secret of improved plant breeding” he told Yogananda, “apart from scientific knowledge, is love.” Burbank was a practiced meditator. It was by meditating with his plants, that he learned their secrets. He noted that sometimes during such communion, he felt close to what he called “the Infinite Power.” At such times, he admitted to Yogananda, he was able to heal the sick as well as the plants.”

Would it surprise you to know that after reading the passage above, I remembered reading the autobiographies of Luther Burbank and George Washington Carver at about age 11, to be used for elementary school book reports?  And later, as a senior in high school, my senior term paper was on Dreams. There are indeed fractal patterns of experience through our lives we can discover if we take time to explore the deeper connections between the events we experience.

There are more lessons in the above passage from Henry Reed’s book, than there is space in this blog to include. They will be topics of other postings and of the classes I teach at Enchanted Spirits Metaphysical Shop (www.enchantedspiritsshop.com/ ) in Dunedin, FL.

If you would take the time to meditate on the truths and messages in the passage above, especially if you know of someone who needs help in healing, you will be amazed at the results you can achieve. Now, to the story my conscious mind thought I would be telling, before my subconscious, prompted by my higher self or inner self as Seth calls that part of us, directed me to a broader and deeper story.

My Conversation with a Tree   (As revised May 2014)

Awakening to Your Life Purpose, taught by Jean Houston is the title of a class I took in Feb. 2012. My first exposure to Jean was about 1983 when I bought her book ThePossible Human: A Course in Enhancing Your Physical, Mental, and Creative Abilities, published in 1982. It was described as a comprehensive theory and program for conscious creativity. I immediately liked her writing and teaching style. I found the many exercises would deliver new insights as promised. It was my exposure to this book back then that led me to take her 7 week online class in early 2012. I was looking to validate in my mind the direction my life was taking, since I felt I had experienced a new awakening to my life purpose.

I enjoyed all of the learning exercises Jean led us through in that 7 week class; especially the ones about discovering our entelechy and having a conversation with a tree. Because I had become a student of the Seth material since 1982, both of these concepts and exercises were comfortable to me. I also had explored similar ideas via many other sources in the past. This blog is to finally share publicly what I shared with my group in Jean’s class. After telling the story of my conversation with a tree, I will share some of Seth’s comment on nature and consciousness. After all, in order to carry on a conversation with a tree, I would have to assume, at least temporally, that a tree has a consciousness. No, I am not crazy, nor have I ever been classified as such.

The assignment for one segment of Jean’s class was about communing with the Beautyand Majesty of Nature; to understand we are part of Nature with a capital ‘N”. We were to carry on a telepathic conversation with a tree by first asking a tree for some guidance. Communing with nature was certainly not new to me. Neither was the idea that trees and plants as well as animals might have a type of consciousness that was suitable to their environment. I had even superficially talked to the trees in the “The Green Cathedral” (Mill Creek Park) in Youngstown, OH while jogging in that beautiful environment. What was new was the concept that a tree might seemingly and telepathically respond to my inquiry. Even if it was my own subconscious that communicated the message, my goal at the time was fulfilled and I felt that I received a pertinent reply to my inquiry and had performed the task associated with the lesson.

So, one day I ventured outside my house to pick a tree to “talk to”. What follows is a report of that experience:

I looked around the house and at the bushes in the back that border the pool. There are several hibiscus bushes there. I would love to see them in full bloom, showing the beauty of their red and pink blossoms. I have not been happy with them lately; they are not blooming at all. I decided it would be best to find another tree or bush. I then had the message come back to me that maybe the problem was of my doing! I had not really been nurturing them for a few months and like ourselves or our loved ones, if we ignore them, there is a break in our connection. The message to me was to be conscious of taking action about extending my love more, instead of dwelling on things or people not living up to my expectations.  I assessed that I needed to go out among the hibiscus; to prune, fertilize, and wash them in a soapy solution to rid them of aphids; to cut away the higher limbs of surrounding plants so they get more sunlight. Without enough sunlight they cannot carry out photosynthesis in the way they are designed. Without the proper nutrients, their immune systems would not function as Nature intended. It is not much different than the way we have to nourish our mind, spirit, and heart bodies.

I went looking for a tree to fulfill the assignment, determined to do my part for the health of the hibiscus. My heart led me to the water, where I have always found my peace when it has been clouded by worry. I have often meditated with the sound of the waves lapping the shoreline.

As I am doing my usual walking meditation along the beach, I look around at the bushes and trees. What stood out to me were the tall palm trees that lined the shore of both sides of the causeway leading to the island where I sometimes walk the undeveloped beach. As I sat on a bench underneath these enduring palms, I telepathically began to speak to them.

“Magnificent palm trees; I know that all things in the universe are connected. I know you are connected to all the rest of the many palms here; and even connected to me. I know this. Though I speak to one, I am speaking to all. I breathe in the oxygen you breathe out. You breathe in the carbon dioxide I breathe out. Our bodies exchange atoms and molecules. We are made of the same stuff. You don’t worry about being worthy of the rain, sun, nutrients and love you receive. You know you are loved. You are the subject of many photographs and paintings. People celebrate your being. They rest in your shade. You stand tall above all the other plants around. You have a higher perspective about things. You have weathered many storms and still you grow and spread your branches to shade those in need of shade. You stand tall and are grounded. You bend with the wind and are bathed by the rain. What feedback can you give magnificent tree?” Am I on the right track, the true course, the path to my higher purpose?” Am I on the “Yellow Brick Road"?

I listened, but got distracted by the water, the wind and the birds and started a conversation with them.  After an hour, not receiving a clear cut answer from the trees, I decided to return the next day and try again.

Arriving at the beach the next day I walked along the shore until I came to an isolated spot and sat on a bench to meditate while listening to the sound of the waves breaking on the shore; something I have done hundreds of times before when I needed to talk to Nature. I sat quietly with my eyes closed and listened. What came first was some unexpected reflection on the story of my wounds and resulting grief I felt I had experienced in life; the next assignment to complete. Even though I thought I had worked completely through that past, I felt emotion, energy flowing through me, as I reflected on the experience. Tears gently flowed down my cheeks. It was a good thing I had my sunglasses on and there were hardly any people walking the beach that morning. The ones that did occasionally strolled by, walked with their heads down looking for shells, hardly concerned about me.

Our heart’s mind always displays greater wisdom that our rational minds. This period of meditation on the beach let me know I could again visit that story of grief from the past and share it with others. This would be the essence of the next exercise in the class.

It was after that experience, while sitting quietly in the sun, listening to the waves gently crash on the shore, I received a message from the trees.

Yes, we are grounded. We stand tall and we don’t worry about what tomorrow will bring. We have weathered many storms and we still rejoice every day in what creation has provided us and we are filled with gratitude. We continue to grow and we shed old branches to make way for the new ones, letting the winds blow the old branches away to become part of the earth again; earth that nourishes all humankind. We love the sun, the rain, the wind and the storms. We accept things as they are. What caused it is the past. We live in the spacious present! Take heed of our existence.”…The message continued: … “Let your limiting beliefs fall away as our old branches do. Make room for new ideas, beliefs and joy to come into your life. The opportunity for you to grow and be a co-creator will never cease.  Stand tall, grounded in your beliefs until you find personal evidence to change a belief that no longer serves you as you transition to a higher level of consciousness. Trust the true Nature of things, your impulses, and intuitions. What do you think moved civilization along and advanced consciousness, but your collective impulses and intuitions? They are the source of your inspirations, innovations and collective growth. Go in peace and be aware of the signs, synchronicities and choices you make. The power to choose from among possibilities is the greatest power you have to contribute to co-creation. The point of your power is always in the present moment. Stay on the path you are on for now. You will know when and if a change is needed. Be happy!  Don’t worry!”

So it went that day with the trees. The tree was right! I stayed on the path I was on and my opportunities began to expand; not only opportunities for the expansion of my consciousness, but also opportunities to help others in their journey and growth. I was on a journey of value fulfillment for myself and at the same time, contributing to the value fulfillment of others.

“Since dreams are a by-product of any consciousness involved with matter, this leads us to the correct conclusion – that trees have their dreams, that all physical matter, being formed about individual units of consciousness of varying degrees, also participates in the involuntary construction of the dream universe.” – Early Sessions Book 3 Session- 97 by Jane Roberts.

Oracle At The High Gate

Oracle at the High Gate

Each of us possesses a magical place of imagination.  We can travel to this place using our mind’s eye. Oh, I must tell you, this place is altogether real if you believe it is.

Imagine if you will, traveling down a path surrounded by scenic vistas that give you a feeling of inner peace as you take in the beauty.  Continue on this path as it leads you up a gentle slope, enjoying the beautiful surroundings. You may even see a relaxing waterfall cascading down the terrain.  Coming up ahead you can begin to see a large interesting building like a castle home at the top of this hill. As you get closer, you see a wall surrounding the house, with a gate that allows you passage beyond the wall.

As you approach the entrance you are greeted by an Oracle that guards the gate to this house on the high plateau. This is the Oracle at the High Gate ¹. All newcomers to this magical place are asked a question by the Oracle: “What is the correct time?”  There is only one correct answer to the Oracle’s question: “The time is now! – The Present is the Point of Power.”  If you answer correctly, the Oracle of the High Gate will allow you to enter the house which is a very magical place indeed and experience all that it has to offer. If the answer escapes you, you will be given other chances to learn.

Once inside the house you see that it is full of objects; some of which are familiar and some you may have only seen in your imagination or your dreams. You have entered the House of Time. The House of Time is a realm of unbelievable time travel. Just by touching any object in the house, you are transported to the past or to the future and you have the experience of being in either place you chose and seeing the connections associated with that particular object. It will be as if you are in a dream you created. You can move to a new experience at anytime you have the thought and touch a different object.

When you tire of all the time travel, if that is possible, you may choose to go through the large wooden doors with the ornate carvings. You notice above these doors, written in gilded letters, the words Library of All That Is.  As you enter this library, the librarian tells you that it contains all the books of knowledge and wisdom that have ever been written or that will ever be written in the future. You may pull any of these books off the shelf and sit in quiet while your mind is absorbed with the wonder of it all. If you prefer to sit at a computer, you will be able to access it all in an electronic format simply by thinking about what it is you want to know; no key strokes necessary. This library is very high touch and high tech! Whatever method you choose, you will quickly be immersed in other worlds.

As you are taking in all this wisdom and knowledge, you hear the librarian announce that meetings with the Master Teachers will begin in 30 minutes; allowing you time to wrap up your time in the library and move to the next great experience. All the great past and future Master Teachers will be holding group and private sessions, so you will not have to worry about reserving a space. It always seems to work out in your favor. Only a limited number of people will be in this magical place at any one time it seems; something to do with knowing the correct answer to the question posed by the Oracle at the High Gate.

These Master Teachers are Oracles in their own right and can assist in providing you with specific information that will allow you to arrive at the best answer to any question concerning your own personal value fulfillment. By the way, the answers you arrive at in this place, by this process will always help others achieve their own personal value fulfillment. This is quite a magical place as I told you! There really is enough of everything for everybody. Your consciousness may seem to be exploding like a “big bang” the scientists talk about as you sense that it is time to move on to your next great adventure in this House of Time.

You leave the meeting with your Master Teacher and the librarian escorts you to your last adventure for this trip to the magical realm guarded by the Oracle. You find yourself standing at the entrance to another room in the House of Time. The sign above reads: The Hall of Records – The Books of Your Life.  You think, “How could that be, I am still living my life?” You find the book just about your life and sit to read it, or you sit at a computer and use the high tech approach to observe your life being lived by you, past, including past lives, present and future. You are “feeling blown away” and sit in total amazement.

You soon realize that the future you are seeing is the result of the current course you are on, based on the way you are making decisions and the current beliefs you hold dear. You learn that the future is always a probable event based on current beliefs, thoughts, emotions, intents, desires and the actions you take. You learn that the actual event that you might experience in the future can change any time you change any of these mentioned steering currents. You control the set of your sail. And, you have unlimited energy and resources at your command! You learn, maybe for the first time, that you create your future reality.

Finally, at the end of your review of The Book of Your Life, you are told that if you want to return to the earth plane with a different blueprint and try it all again, you will be allowed and encouraged to do that. Of course, the Master Teachers will give you guidance in that pursuit. Maybe you have discovered flaws in the blueprint you have been living by in your current life. But, maybe everything has been a fantastic voyage filled with inner peace and joy, even in the midst of some sorrows and you feel you are ready to be a Teacher yourself. The possibilities are truly endless.

You finish your session in the Hall of Records and the review of your own Book of Life and return to the big room with the passageway back to physical reality. As you are preparing to leave this magical house, you know you can return as many times as you like. There is only one condition to you being allowed to return. As you leave and pass by the Oracle once again, you will be asked the same question as when you entered the House of Time. If you provide the correct answer you will be able to return as many times as you desire. You will just have to close you eyes and start walking down the path that leads to the Oracle at the High Gate that guards the entrance to the magical realm and the House of Time. You may even find yourself making the visit while your body sleeps and your inner self dreams. Be sure to write down your experience if you make the visit from dreamland as you may forget some of the important details.

Now that you have read the tale of the Oracle at the High Gate, you will always know the answer to the Oracle’s question “What is the correct time?”

Either way you travel to the House of Time, remember, when you return to physical reality, to be on the lookout for dreams, impulses, coincidences and synchronicities that will be your sign that you are on the right path or that you need to make corrections in order to fulfill the blueprint for your life that is your current master plan to Magical Living. Think of it as being an actor or actress in an unfolding lifelong play and you are also the one who wrote the script, produced and directed the play, and the one who writes the critical analysis of the adventure. As the one playing all the parts, you can change every act if necessary until the ending is just as you can imagine in your wildest dreams. Enjoy the show! Tickets go on sale every day. I hope you have a Magical Life!
